About Us

A welcoming place where maths starts to make sense.

Wen Wiskunde is led by Lurindi Theunissen, an experienced maths tutor passionate about helping learners grow in confidence and understanding. Classes and evaluations take place on the Tina Cowley premises in a focused and supportive learning environment.

Our vision is to help students strengthen their maths skills, build confidence with numbers, and develop a more positive attitude towards maths through personal guidance and encouragement.

Personal attention

Every learner is seen, heard and guided. Small groups and patient teaching mean your child gets the support they need to grow in confidence.

Confidence through understanding

We focus on helping learners truly understand maths, not just memorise steps. When concepts click, confidence follows.

Tailored to the curriculum

Our lessons are aligned with your child's school curriculum, helping them strengthen key concepts and feel more confident in class.

Our Services

Thoughtful maths support, shaped around your child.

From foundational skills to senior-phase problem solving, each session is designed to strengthen understanding, build confidence and create a positive experience with maths.

What we offer

  • Foundation Phase - Grade R - 3

We focus on building a strong foundation in number sense and mental maths. Our small-group support helps learners strengthen counting skills, develop number fluency, and grow in confidence.

  • Intermediate and Senior Phase - Grade 4 - 9

We strengthen learners’ mental maths to make schoolwork easier and more manageable. Lessons follow the curriculum with personalised support aligned to each learner’s school. We build terminology and comprehension so learners feel clearer in class and better prepared when tests roll around.

  • Formal Assessments

We assess each learner’s current maths level to identify strengths, gaps, and the appropriate starting point. Our formal assessments provide clear insights into their understanding, helping us place them at the right level and tailor support to improve performance and confidence.

Tests, exams & each term

We provide full support with test and exam preparation each term. This includes mock tests, detailed marking, feedback, and videos for students who are struggling.

During the June and November exam periods, we also host a Maths Bootcamp. This forms part of the 12 classes each learner receives per term and is therefore included in the class fees.

Session Times

A timetable for every phase

The Maths Centre operates on a structured timetable with specific time slots allocated to different age groups and phases:

We keep our groups limited to a maximum of 4 students with the exception of 5 students if students work on the same level and attend the same school and grade.

Tap to expand a grade

  • Sessions are scheduled in the earlier time slots, and the full Friday afternoon classes on Fridays. Each class is supported by both a teacher and an assistant, as learners at this level often require extra help with reading questions and participating in one on one oral activities. When grade 2 or 3 students can work and read more independently there are also options during the week.
